Problem
The recommendations engine was returning stale results and the messaging system had a 3–5 second delivery latency that frustrated power users.

Solution
Rebuilt the recommendations service with a real-time scoring pipeline on Kafka. Replaced the polling-based messaging layer with WebSocket connections and introduced Redis pub/sub for instant delivery.
